A Shining Star in Service
Highlighting Chantel Shideler at TOGO’S, Castro Valley, CA
Despite reports claiming that good customer service is hard to find post-pandemic, I have been reporting my excellent customer service experiences for one year. I have had the pleasure of meeting some fantastic people who provide exceptional customer care, and today's encounter was no exception.
I went to TOGO’S in Castro Valley, CA, to get my favorite Asian chicken salad, and Chantel Shideler took my order. In my opinion, the service I receive in a restaurant is as important as the meal, and Chantel did not disappoint.
She was authentically warm, welcoming, personable, friendly, and professional. Chantel was attentive when she took my order. She confirmed what I wanted and didn'’t want. She did not assume anything and risk getting it wrong. Her energy touched me, and I was so happy that I stopped by that particular TOGO'S today.
Because of her knowledge and expertise, Michon remained reassuring and optimistic about the outcome, which helped calm my anxiety. Her empathic listening, proactive communication, and transparency built a foundation of trust. She consistently put our needs first, remained adaptable, and pivoted when necessary. In the end, she got the deal done!
After I got my order, I went to my car and thought I needed to capture this young woman in my customer service blog. So I got out of my car and headed back inside. But I noticed Chantel was helping another customer, who had a couple of large bags, carry her order to her car. I thought, WOW, this young woman is going over and above to care for her customers.
I hope the managers and leaders of TOGO'S see this post and realize Chantel Shideler is a shining star in their establishment.
Experiencing good or excellent customer service might be like finding a needle in a haystack, but keep looking for it—it might just poke you when you least expect it.
Chantel, I see you! Keep shining and keep smiling because you are making a difference! Your presence uplifted my spirit! I hope this blog blesses you as much as you blessed me today!
